LIFT new film is up!

user
LIFT is raw and unpredictable. It screams to find itself in this world, like a newborn child whose mother's womb can no longer supply. It comes out of its own will to survive and live; its matter is uncontrollable, a creation of its self, it must be and it has to reach. I wrote LIFT in a week and it was one of those scripts that screamed to come out of me. Nothing was forced and thought of, it simply wrote itself onto the script. In the beginning we tried to raise money, but all in vein and...

Calcutta, 1947. Viewed at Egyptian Theater, Hollywood, during film noir week. Another Ladd wartime programmer is "Calcutta" with always dependable beefy support from William Bendix. In this one both are military pilots flying missions over the Himalayas from Calcutta to Chungking. The "calcutta" location is obviously a studio set and the story quickly segues from a military setting to a noir drama in civilian clothes as Ladd and Bendix seek to track down the killer of t...

In short, over long, drawn out, discombobulated, baloney. By Alex Deleon   A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour  through the 1960s Jim Crow American South. After a string of weak and questionable choices in recent years the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences finally got it right for a change by awarding Green Book the Best Film Oscar of 2019. Whether or not similar stories have been told before (e.g., Driving Miss Daisy) this one takes the cake on every ...

By Alex Deleon Tais-toi et sois belle ~ Shut up and look pretty, viewed on Awards night at Kino Arsenal 1. Not to be confused with a 1958 French feature film of the same name, which, in fact had me confused enough not to check up on what I was about to see and therefore stumble into a siege of boredom. In this talking heads documentary made by French actress Delphine Seyrig, famous  actresses talk about their roles in the male dominated movie industry, and the implicit requirem...

Chaplin's Limelight I have never liked Chaplin's early silent films because I found his "loveable tramp" character more grotesque than amusing. Guess that makes me part of a vanishing minority. However his major bittersweet 'talkie' of 1952, Limelight" I cannot help but thinking of as one of the great all-time cinema masterpieces and one if the first movies that made me start taking cinema seriously. The movie made an overnight star of young British actress Clai...

THE CREEPY LINE a film by M.A.Taylor 2018

"A film that Google does not want you to see  - filmfestivals.com Best for Fest"

An eye-opening documentary, The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle – hence powerful – manner in which they do it.

The Creepy Line is a title culled from the words of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, when during a 2010 interview he explained Google’s code of conduct: “The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.”

However, as Dr. Robert Epstein explains in the film, “Google crosses the creepy line every day”.

Offering first-hand accounts, scientific experiments and detailed analysis, The Creepy Line examines what is at risk when these two tech titans have free reign to utilize the public’s most private and personal data to manipulate society.

There is no question that the “creepy line” is getting ever-creepier, and that the tech giants have crossed it.
